I became a voice teacher because I was hounded by a young singer who was convinced I could teach her to sing. Now, I owe her my life. I can't imagine a career more fitting for me than teaching singing. And once I got into it, I realized how great the need was for instructors who have a solid grasp on healthy contemporary singing, vocal health, and connecting emotionally to a song. So I developed The Powell Method and started training instructors.
I've learned that there are a lot of singing instructors out there who feel ill-equipped to meet the demands of today's singers. Just like with singers, it is important for a singing instructor to be able to find her or his unique voice in order to construct a solid foundation for a successful career.
